Ellen has a mother who loves her. Ellen loves her mother, too. But her mother is ill and she has for months just been sitting in the yellow chair or lying in bed.

Ellen realize that she needs to be loved by more people than just her mother. But it’s not easy to just go looking for a stand-in. It’s made even more difficult by the fact that Ellen not only misses her mother, she also struggles with communicating with other people than her mother. Or as a neighbour says about her: “She has certain special needs”.
