Merete Pryds Helle (b. 1965) is one of Denmark’s most popular writers. She made her debut in 1990 with the short story collection Towards Another Calm, and has since published numerous books in many genres. In 2016 her novel The Beauty of the People became an immense success in Denmark, winning both the Gyldne Laurbær Prize (the Danish booksellers’ prize and Politiken’s Literary Prize and selling more than 100,000 copies. In 2018 she published the acclaimed follow-up We Knew It All.
