Frank has settled in Berlin with his opportunistic and dominating artist girlfriend, Trine. He makes a living as a photographer documenting the legen­dary pornographer Simon Thaurs’ crea­tive filming in the sex club, Kit Kat Club.

Then the right-wing extremist poet, Andreas, shows up, obsessed with the idea that free will is an illusion. An­dreas wants Frank to help him find their friend, Jon Kristian, who appar­ently has become a cult leader some­where in the Alps. After a confronta­tion with Trine, Frank is forced on a European journey that brings him into the most bizarre circumstances.

Yet the Sun Rises is a juicy satire of the Norwegian Contemporary Art milieu, and a provoking exploration of man’s subjugation in a world governed by coincidences. The novel is an inde­pendent sequel to Nothing, Nobody, Nowhere, Never (2008).
