A twelve year old boy lives with his father, the two of them sharing a life together which is as pleasant as it is unremarkable. Then one day everything changes. The boy is diagnosed with cancer. What becomes important when life is threatened? What can we do when we face death? What is death, can it open up to us?

This novel raises large questions, partly looking for answers in Norse ideas of death and in myths from several cultures. Also a gripping portrait of a father and a son, the novel offers warmth and humour, anger and desperation, confusion and insight.
