Visible Mending
Visible mending – that is, fixing damaged clothes with beautiful and creative repairs has become a trend in recent years, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only is it fun and stylish, but it’s also an activity that encourages sustainable soultions and recognizing the true value of our clothes. Eva Kittelsen is Norway’s foremost ambassador for visible mending. In this book, she provides a simple introduction to the most important techniques, such as patching, darning, and embroidery. She demonstrates how to repair torn socks and camouflage stains on shirts, but also how to transform old clothes into small works of art, using new twists on traditional handwork techniques. Drawing on her own experiences, she also shows how repair can help us feel gratitude and a sense of accomplishment in our daily lives, as we learn to take better care of what we cherish – whether it’s our clothes or ourselves.
