The Meaning of Atlas
… a classic love story of opposites attracting. (…) A story of two people who are both seeking the meaning of life in different ways and meet in what both experience as an existential explosion; Lian’s prose is strong and poetic, and tackles the really big questions.
Karen Frøysland Nystøyl, Vårt Land
16-year-old Atlas is dying of cancer. Unable to face further treatment, he runs away. He has no plan, other than to get away from everything. At the railway station in Copenhagen, his attention is drawn to a girl who’s living on the seamy side of life. The two of them end up wandering the streets of Copenhagen. Atlas keeps quiet about his condition and lets her lead him into her Copenhagen: the dark side of the city, and the free town of Christiania. For Atlas, nothing but Molly makes sense.
