This is Bjarte Breiteig’s third collection of short stories, and each text circles around existentially challenging situations. At the same time they make sharp incisions into different social realities; we are introduced to people in the midst of change and desperation, young adults who are confronted with themselves and the lives they lead. The stories are played out against a backdrop of stylistic and lifeless suburbs and small towns. Bjarte Breiteig tenderly portrays moods, religious longings and the distances that can exist between people who seem very close.
