Frank has left his girlfriend to move to Oslo, with the dream of becoming a successful art photographer. He spends his time with his friends Stian, a self-made artist who makes a lot of money, and Andreas, a young poet. His meeting with the trendsetting artists turns his view of good and bad in art upside down, and he dismisses his earlier artistic ambitions in order to devote himself to his new, big project: Porn installations inspired by Roland Barthes.

His life changes when he meets Trine. They soon get involved in a transgressive sexual relationship, and it turns out that Trine’s preference for sadomasochism has far more serious consequences than Frank had expected.
