Reidar Kjelsen
Reidar Kjelsen (b. 1970) is a man with few inhibitions. Anyway, he is allowed free rampage within the Norwegian childrens books society. He has written books about suicide bombing, eating disorders, scared little animals and a guy called God. He even wrote a princess book for boys! Reidar refuses to underestimate the intelligence of his readers only because they are children.
In total Reidar has illustrated more than 50 books, of which he wrote 15 himself. Sometimes he deliberately misunderstands the text he is illustrating.
Over the last 22 years Reidar has had around 4500 standup performances in Norwegian schools. Despite the fact that anyone who invites him is asking for trouble! He tricks little boys into reading books that would make their mothers loose their sleep. Until this day nobody has dared to translate his books into foreign languages…
Reidar didn’t get a proper kiss until he was 19 and has a sports career limited to kicking the balls into his own net. He was a shy outsider in art school (SHKS) and was focusing on compassionate qualities during his military service. Today he is a madman operating within an arena that fits him well.
