Monica Goksøyr (born in 1990) grew up on the island of Runde in Sunnmøre and has roots in Thailand. She holds a master’s degree in law and works as a lawyer in the public sector. She made her debut with the short story collection Bad Girls (2023), which won the Tarjei Vesaas Debut Prize as well as the LO Literature Prize.
In 2025, Goksøyr was named one Norway’s 10 best younger writers, in a prestigious list published every ten years in a cooperation between the cultural weekly Morgenbladet and Lillehammer Literary Festival. The list showcases 10 writers under 35 who are considered the most promising literary talents of their generation.
