Gerd Brantenberg (b. 1941) is an author of novels, essays and young adult fiction. In 1977 she published the classic satire Egalia’s Daughters, which has been translated into a wide range of languages, from Japanese to English. She studied English, history and political science, and holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Oslo. Brantenberg taught for many years at university colleges in Norway and Denmark. Throughout her life, she has helped found and been active in various feminist and LGBTQ+ movements.
