A man follows a stranger, causing him to arrive late for a meeting with his son. He spends a day and night searching for him – and for an explanation of events in his own past.

Nothing about the Dark is Merethe Lindstrøms fifth novel. It is concerned with the destructive effects of neglect and suppression of the truth – and of escaping from a sense of guilt and shame. It tells, too, of a father’s responsibility for a child who has chosen a mute, but extreme, form of revolt, and of how a family strives to regain its foothold and find a meaning in all that has gone before.
