Cornelia and the Jungle Machine
What if you had to move house, find a new friend, and the friend has a jungle machine?
A picture book that takes the young reader into a fairytale world, inspires their imaginations and their belief in magical worlds.
Cornelia and her parents are moving into an enormous house close to a forest. Her parents are busy getting the new house in order. Cornelia feels lonely and decides to explore the forest. Then a new and wondrous world opens. She discovers a hidden treehouse and a boy her own age with a magical machine. A jungle machine!
Nora Brech’s illustrations have a gothic feel with a flair for imaginative details and perspectives both in interior and natural depictions. Her pictures play with references to classical children’s literature, and the book’s portrait format is fully utilized when Cornelia climbs up the tall trees; the drawings quite simply give the reader butterflies.
