It’s a solid piece of visual storytelling. The spreads run smoothly, the story is funny and fragile, accessible and captivating at the same time. The palette is controlled, and the use of color is well thought out – everything has meaning. The main character’s fantasies and dreams are conveyed through clever techniques, and the compositions are strong. Full pages occasionally appear with text messages, recipes, and other unexpected elements that break up the narrative, liberating it from the usual graphic novel format without disrupting the flow in the story. It’s engaging, inspiring, and very charming!
