Emma has travelled to Bergen, ostensibly to write texts for a new photo book from Svalbard. But the real reason she is here is because she has a new boyfriend, the high profile TV personality Rickard.
The story starts at a peaceful spot by the Puddefjord. While enjoying the beautiful weather and a beer, Emma meets a middle aged man and a young woman who are about to go out on the fjord in separate dinghies. They intend to find the place from where a certain old photograph was taken.
The story makes a great impression on Emma, but it provokes a quarrel with Rickard, and Emma checks into a hotel. Later an unknown man is found drowned in the fjord. This is a story that Emma, the author, can’t leave alone.
